Anclote River Paddle Trip Sept 2024

The Anclote River paddle is always a fun day on the water.  We explored Spring Bayou where the epiphany takes place every year and all the boys jump into the cold water for the cross.  Hopefully the water is clearer when they do it, because with all the rain the water is quite muddy. Then we paddled past the Sponge Docks,  its a very active harbor.  With shrimp boats, fishing boats and working boats that who knows what they do all tied up to the docks.  One of the traditional sponger boats was piled height with sponges.  We continued up the river past the Alt 19 bridge into the winding mangrove part of the river. Passing under the pedestrian bridge where you can hear the bats in the bridge.  We had lunch and stretched our legs in the park just past the pedestrian bridge. It was a cloudy day and we ended up getting some rain on the way back.  It wasn’t hard but enough to wet us down and cool things off. It stopped raining to finish up the paddle and load up for home.  A nice day on the water. Thanks for coming out everyone and see you next month for the Ft Desoto Paddle Trip.
