Clam Bayou Paddle Trip June 2024

Clam Bayou Paddling Trip 2024 was a fun relaxing day.  We paddled out from the Clam Bayou put in, across from the marina in Gulfport. Paddling north we explored the mangroves and tunnels until we found a dead end so we paddled back south and found more tunnels to paddle through.  There were several sailboats anchored far up in the bayou. As we made our way out into Boga Ciega Bay a few people saw manatee, and dolphin. With the wind to our backs, we paddled along the shore and past the many sailboat anchored off. We made our way easily to the Gulfport downtown waterfront. We landed on the beach to have lunch just off the beach on the sidewalk next to the Gulfport Casino.  It gave us a nice view, over looking the town and the water.  There’s a few changes to the downtown from the last time we were here, the 2 story bar was closed and under renovation.  Next to the bar used to be an older building that was in rough shape, now its and empty field. And O’maddy’s looks like they lost part of there roof. After lunch we paddled back the way we came.  The wind subsided and it was an easy paddle back to the finish of the paddle.  As always thanks to everyone for coming out and enjoying the day with us.  See you next month for the Hillsborough River.
