The lighter one. The SingleNest hammock is ENO's narrower model at 16 oz, and it holds exactly the same 400 lb as the wider DoubleNest.

The SingleNest Hammock Is Narrower, Not Weaker

This surprises people, so it is worth stating plainly: both hammocks are rated 400 lb. The SingleNest is not the "weaker" one.

What you give up is about a foot and a half of width. What you gain is three ounces and a slightly smaller pack.

So the decision is simple. If packed weight and volume genuinely matter — backpacking, a bike trip, a day hatch on a kayak where space is measured in inches — take the SingleNest. If they do not, the DoubleNest is more comfortable and worth the three ounces.

Getting Comfortable in a SingleNest Hammock

The diagonal lie matters more here than in a DoubleNest, because you have less fabric to work with.

Lie at an angle across the hammock rather than straight down the middle. In a SingleNest that takes a little more deliberate positioning, but it is the difference between flat and folded.

If you are tall or broad, be honest with yourself and look at the DoubleNest instead.

Specification

• Capacity 400 lb

• Around 9'6" long and roughly 4'8" wide

• 16 oz

• FreeWave 70D nylon taffeta

• Anodised 7075 aluminium wiregate carabiners

Straps Are Not Included

The most important line on this page, and the reason people go home disappointed.

An ENO hammock does not come with suspension straps. What is in the bag is the hammock, two anodised 7075 aluminium wiregate carabiners, and the integrated stuff sack. That is it.

You need a strap set as well. The Atlas straps are the standard answer and match the hammock's 400 lb rating exactly — we keep them on the same shelf, and we will not let you leave with a hammock and no way to hang it.

Hanging It Without Damaging the Tree

This is not box-ticking — it is why many parks require webbing.

ENO's own guidance is webbing at least 1 inch wide. Leave No Trace say the same, and add: pick a tree at least 6 inches in diameter, hang from the thickest part of the trunk, and keep the hammock no more than 18 inches off the ground.

Rope and paracord do not meet that standard. A narrow line concentrates the load and cuts into the bark and the living cambium underneath, which can kill the tissue. Wide webbing spreads it.

Never screw or hammer anything into a tree.
