A waterproof inline switch goes in the main power wire between your battery and everything else. Flick it off and the whole system is dead — no standby draw, no slow drain, nothing quietly flattening the battery while the boat sits on the trailer.

Why a Waterproof Inline Switch Stops Parasitic Drain

Almost anything you wire into a kayak draws a little current even when it is "off". A fish finder in standby, a relay module, an illuminated panel. Individually it is tiny; over three weeks between trips it is the difference between a full battery and a dead one.

An inline switch removes the question entirely. One flick and nothing downstream can draw anything.

The LED Tells You

There is a red LED backlight in the switch body that lights when the circuit is live. That sounds like a small thing and it is genuinely useful — you can see at a glance across the yard whether you left the boat powered up.

Waterproof Inline Switch Specification

• 16 amps

• 14 AWG wire

• SAE connectors both ends

• Red LED backlight

• Mounting bracket included

Note the 16 A rating is above the 15 A total of the Yak Power panel, so it will not be the bottleneck in a normal build.

Plug and Play, No Soldering

Every part of the Yak Power line uses standard SAE two-pin connectors — the same snap-together plug used on battery tenders. Nothing gets cut, stripped, crimped or soldered. You plug the pieces together in the order they go, and the system works.

That is the whole reason this line exists. Wiring a kayak used to mean butt connectors, heat shrink and a prayer. This is a system a customer with no electrical experience can install in an afternoon and trust in salt water.

Where to Mount a Waterproof Inline Switch

Somewhere you can reach from outside the boat when it is loaded — near the battery box, or on a gunwale. A switch you have to unpack the boat to reach is a switch you will stop using.
