Weeki Wachee River Paddle Trip Jan 2023
The Weeki Wachee River Paddling Trip Jan 2023 was a great day for a paddle, the weather was perfect with a bit cool to start the morning but jackets where off before we got in the kayaks. The tides started out low, it was high enough to get out of the channel, but low enough to make a muddy entry. It was a quiet start and not a lot of boats out on the water yet as we want up the channel to the main river. The water was nice and clear and a large flock of seagulls gathered on an exposed sand bar. Lunch at Rogers Park was nice and not busy. They removed the picnic tables and covers that had always been there. Hopefully they will put some nice new ones for next year. We paddled up to hospital hole after lunch and as usual there was a crowd there, because that is were the Manatees where. There was maybe 7 or 8 manatees actively swimming and playing. A momma with a tiny baby and an older one still trying to feed, got everyone excited as they swam by. Some of the group paddled farther up the river. On the way back down river one more manatee was spotted partway down the river. Another great day on the river hope everyone that came out had a great time.
