The thin one. 3mm Marine Mat is the standard build — half the thickness of the Elite, at well under half the price, and the right choice where clearance matters more than cushioning.
When 3mm Marine Mat Is the Right Answer
Low profile is a genuine feature, not just a cheaper option. A 3mm pad slides under a hatch lip, tucks beside a seat rail, and sits flush enough that a sliding hatch or a pedal drive well does not foul it. A 6mm pad in the same spot can stand proud enough to catch.
It is also the sensible pick for an area you stand on occasionally rather than constantly — a footwell you rest your heels in, a deck panel you want grip on without rebuilding the whole boat.
What You Give Up
Cushioning, mostly. Three millimetres grips and protects the deck, but it does not float your feet the way 6mm does on a long standing session. And it insulates less from a hot deck, which in a Florida summer is worth weighing.
The other difference is cosmetic. The thicker Elite build is a two-tone laminate, so routed logos and lines reveal a second colour underneath. Do not expect that two-tone effect from 3mm Marine Mat.
3mm Marine Mat Cut to the Boat
Our stock is cut for Caribbean 12 and Caribbean 14 footwells. Check your model before ordering — and note that FS stands for Frame Seat, so a plain Caribbean and an FS version are not the same fit. These are made to order and not returnable.
How Marine Mat Goes On
It is peel-and-stick, on a high-performance pressure-sensitive adhesive that grips even a moulded-in non-skid deck. Clean the area properly and let it dry completely — adhesive does not forgive a damp or waxy surface — then lay the piece down and press it evenly from the middle outward.
Take your time on the dry fit. This is the permanent Stick-It series, not the snap-in removable one, so where you put it is where it stays. Marine Mat backs it with a limited three-year warranty against defects.
