Eno Helios Suspension System
Less than half the weight. Helios ultralight straps come in at 4.3 oz against the standard Atlas's 9 oz, which is a real saving if you are counting grams.
Read the Helios Ultralight Straps Capacity First
The trade-off is not just weight, and it is the thing to understand.
Helios is rated 300 lb. ENO's hammocks are rated 400 lb.
That means the strap becomes the weakest link in the system. For a light paddler carrying a minimal kit, fine. For a heavier person, or for two people lounging in a DoubleNest, buy the Atlas instead β we would rather tell you now than have you find out.
Helios Ultralight Straps Adjust Differently
Helios does not use daisy-chain loops. It uses ENO's Microtune infinite-adjustment system with Silverlite cord, so you can set any length rather than stepping between fixed loops.
That is genuinely better once you have the knack β a perfectly level hang every time. It also takes a few minutes to learn, and it is not the system to be figuring out in the dark on your first night out. Practise it in the garden.

Hanging It Without Damaging the Tree
This is not box-ticking β it is why many parks require webbing.
ENO's own guidance is webbing at least 1 inch wide. Leave No Trace say the same, and add: pick a tree at least 6 inches in diameter, hang from the thickest part of the trunk, and keep the hammock no more than 18 inches off the ground.
Rope and paracord do not meet that standard. A narrow line concentrates the load and cuts into the bark and the living cambium underneath, which can kill the tissue. Wide webbing spreads it.
Never screw or hammer anything into a tree.
At 1" wide, Helios meets the minimum webbing standard β but only just, where Atlas at 1.5" has margin. On a well-used tree in a park, wider is kinder.
