Deck Tie Stars for Eddyline

A slotted round deck line guide is the round, low button with a slot through it that deck line passes under. You will see them on Eddyline kayaks in particular, which is why ours have been labelled that way, but there is nothing brand-specific about the part.

The Slotted Round Deck Line Guide Is Not Eddyline-Only

Worth saying plainly, because our own shelf label has implied otherwise for years. This is Sea-Lect's generic slotted round deck line guide. Eddyline uses it; so do other builders, and so does anyone rigging a deck from scratch.

That is good news if you own an Eddyline — you are not hunting a discontinued OEM part — and it is good news if you do not, because it means this will work on your boat too.

Round Instead of Oblong

The round shape is the point. An oblong guide has a leading and trailing end, and on a curved deck one end tends to lift. A round one sits down evenly on a compound curve and has no corner for a hand, a line or a sleeve to catch on.

It is about 1-1/2" across and sits low, and it takes a single #10 oval-head fastener — one hole to match, which makes replacement easy.

Fitting

On a plastic hull, a #10 machine screw through a well nut is the right fastener: it seals the hole, grips from inside, and does not loosen as polyethylene creeps under load. On a thermoformed or composite boat a machine screw and a backing washer is the equivalent.

Bed it in marine sealant either way. Deck fittings take a steady pull from rigging, and a steady pull is exactly what works water down an unsealed thread.
