Ranger Mocean Kayak
Mocean's 14'6" Ranger is a 49 lb light-touring kayak — dual bulkheads, a day hatch, a retractable skeg and an optional rudder, in a hull that welcomes newer paddlers.
The Ranger sits in the gap most people are actually shopping in: longer and more efficient than a rec boat, friendlier and roomier than a full sea kayak. At 14'6" the waterline does real work once you're covering distance or crossing open water, and the 23.5-inch beam keeps it quick without feeling twitchy.
The hull is a moderate V with a rounded chine forward that hardens up aft — in plain terms, it feels solid when you're sitting still, solid again when you lean it over, and it holds a line without a fight. Edge it and it turns; let it go and it tracks.
It's outfitted to go somewhere: perimeter deck lines, dual bulkheads, deck bungees, retractable carry handles, a 6" forward day hatch for the things you want without stopping, a retractable skeg for wind, and an optional rudder if you'd rather steer with your feet. Roomy cockpit, 350 lb capacity, and 49 pounds on the rack.
