Padhook Kit
A PadHook is a pad eye and a hook in one moulding. Line passes through the eye; something else hooks over the hook. It screws to the deck and does two jobs at one mounting point.
The Anchor Trolley Job
This is the use YakAttack designed it for, and it is worth understanding.
On a sit-on-top, an anchor trolley line running the length of the hull wants to sit along the side of the boat, not over the gunwale where it fouls your paddle stroke and your hands. PadHooks screwed along the hull side guide the trolley line where it belongs and keep it there.
The hook part then gives you somewhere to clip the trolley ring when it is not in use, so it is not swinging around.
The Other Jobs
Deck rigging runs. Bungee terminations. A place to hook a paddle leash, a net, a landing glove. Anywhere you want a hard point that both threads and hooks.
Fitting a PadHook
It deck-screws on and stainless hardware is included. Bed it in marine sealant, and on a rotomoulded hull consider machine screws through well nuts rather than self-tappers if the fitting will take a sustained pull β an anchor trolley guide does, and polyethylene creeps under sustained load.
Space them evenly along the hull so the trolley line runs in a smooth line rather than a series of kinks. Dry-lay the line and mark the positions before you drill anything.
Buy One or Buy Six
We sell PadHooks singly or as a six-pack. One is right if you are replacing a broken fitting or adding a single tether point.
Six is right if you are running an anchor trolley, because a trolley wants several evenly spaced along the hull to guide the line in a smooth run rather than a series of kinks β and buying the pack costs less per hook than buying them one at a time.
