Y adapter
An SAE Y adapter splits one 12V outlet into two. Plug it into a power port, a panel circuit or a battery pigtail, and you have two sockets where you had one.
When You Need an SAE Y Adapter
You have a five-circuit panel and six things to run. Or you have a single power port at the stern and both a navigation light and an aerator that want to live back there. Rather than running another port and drilling another hole, you split the one you have.
It is also the quickest fix when you add an accessory after the boat is already wired. No new holes, no new cable runs, no re-planning — plug the Y in and carry on.
Watch the Total Draw
The one thing to keep in mind: a Y adapter splits a circuit, it does not create capacity. Both accessories draw from the same switched circuit and the same 15 amp system total.
Two LED lights on one circuit is nothing. A light plus an aerator is fine. But if you are stacking anything substantial, add up what you are running before you split — a circuit is a budget, not a suggestion.
They also both switch together, since they are on one circuit. If you want independent control of two items, use two circuits rather than a Y.
Plug and Play, No Soldering
Every part of the Yak Power line uses standard SAE two-pin connectors — the same snap-together plug used on battery tenders. Nothing gets cut, stripped, crimped or soldered. You plug the pieces together in the order they go, and the system works.
That is the whole reason this line exists. Wiring a kayak used to mean butt connectors, heat shrink and a prayer. This is a system a customer with no electrical experience can install in an afternoon and trust in salt water.
