No Sway Cage
A Thule No-Sway Cage stops bikes swinging on the rack. Two removable cradles clamp the bike at arm level, so it cannot pivot at highway speed or on a rough road, and the bikes stop knocking into each other and into the car.
Why Bikes Sway
A hitch rack holds a bike by the top tube, which leaves the wheels free to move. On the interstate that becomes a slow pendulum; on a washboard road it becomes bikes hitting bikes. The cage takes that movement out, and it lifts off when you want the arms clear for loading.
