Cockpit Seal ULTRA
A cover, not a skirt. The Cockpit Seal ULTRA goes on when you are *not* paddling β in the garage, on the rack, on the roof at highway speed β to keep rain, leaves, insects and wasps out of your boat.
Do Not Paddle In It
Worth saying at the top, because the covers and the skirts sit on the same rack. A cockpit cover is for storage and transport only. It is not rated for paddling, it has no release system, and it is not a substitute for a sprayskirt.
What "ULTRA" Actually Means
Not heavier duty β lighter. Seals describe it as the lighter-weight alternative to their classic vinyl Cockpit Seal. It packs down smaller and resists fading, in marine-grade coated polyester that shrugs off mildew.
If you want the heaviest, most UV-resistant cover, that is the classic Cockpit Seal. If you want one that lives rolled up in a hatch and goes on whenever the boat is stored, this is the better buy.
The Hull Strap Is the Feature That Matters
An adjustable bungee grips the coaming rim, and then a hull strap and tether hook hold the whole thing to the boat.
That strap is what separates a cover that survives an interstate drive from one you watch leave in the mirror. The cheaper nylon covers do not have it. If the boat travels on a roof, buy a cover with a hull strap.
Sizing a Cockpit Seal ULTRA
Sizes run from 1.2 through 7.0 β these are Seals' own pattern numbers, not measurements, so you cannot work yours out with a tape measure. There is also a Sandpiper size for that cockpit, and custom sizes.
Tell us your kayak's make and model and we will look the size up against Seals' own chart. If your boat is unusual, Seals will build a cover to a traced template β bring the boat in and we will trace the coaming.
