Wing Nut Kit PDL and EPDL
The nut that holds the propeller on a pedal drive. A PDL wingnut kit gives you two wingnuts and two stainless lock washers.
A PDL Wingnut Kit Is Not the Minn Kota Kit
This is the single most important line on the page, and it is the most common mix-up in the whole Old Town parts range.
The PDL pedal-drive shaft and the Minn Kota motor shaft are different. They take different wingnuts, and the two kits are not interchangeable. They look similar, they cost the same, and they are stocked next to each other.
This one — Wingnut Kit for PDL and ePDL+ — is the pedal drive. If your boat is a Sportsman 106 Powered by Minn Kota or an AutoPilot, you want the other kit, and we stock that too.
If in doubt, bring the old wingnut in.
Why You Need a Spare PDL Wingnut Kit
A wingnut is hand-tightened, lives underwater, and comes off every time you change or clear a prop. They get dropped over the side more than any other part on a pedal drive.
They also gall. A stainless wingnut threaded onto a shaft in salt water, season after season, eventually seizes and rounds off. Use anti-seize when you refit, and replace the nut before it is the reason you cannot get a prop off on the water.
