High Performance Rudder
A bigger blade for a Native pedal boat. The hi-performance rudder blade kit carries about 25% more blade area than the pre-2020 stock rudder, on an aluminium post.
What the Hi-Performance Rudder Blade Adds
Two things you notice immediately. The boat turns harder for the same pedal movement, which matters on a wide fishing hull that does not want to pivot. And it holds a heading better in wind and current, so you spend less of the day correcting and more of it fishing.
On a long day the second one matters more. Constant small corrections are tiring in a way that is hard to notice until you stop having to make them.
Post Length Is the Fitment — Check It
This is the 3" post version. Native also makes a 5" post version, and they are not interchangeable.
The 3" post kit fits:
• Slayer Propel 10, Slayer Propel 13, Slayer Propel 12 LT
• Manta Ray Propel Angler 12
• Ultimate FX Propel 13
• All Titans
The 5" post version fits only the Slayer Max 12.5. If that is your boat, tell us and we will order the right one — fitting a 3" post to a Slayer Max will not work.
What the Propel Drive Is
Propel is Native Watercraft's pedal drive: prop-driven, with genuine hands-free forward and reverse. It appears on the Slayer Propel and Slayer Propel Max, Titan Propel and Titan X Propel, Manta Ray Propel, Ultimate FX Propel and Falcon 11.
Fitting
Hardware is included and it is a straightforward swap. Do it with the boat on stands or on its side so you are not fighting gravity, and put some corrosion protection on the pivot while you are there.
While the rudder is off, check the cables. A stiff or stretched cable makes any rudder feel vague, and people often replace a blade when the cable was the problem.
