NALGENE WM RECTANGULAR BOTTLE

A Nalgene wide-mouth rectangular bottle in HDPE — flat sided, so it packs where a round bottle will not.

This Rectangular Bottle Is Not for Drinking

Worth saying first, because people assume. The rectangular bottle is Nalgene's lab and expedition *storage* shape, not one of their drinking bottles — it is not even listed on their consumer site.

What it is for is carrying liquids, powders and small items in a pack: fuel, soap, oil, spare epoxy, pills, a repair kit. The flat sides mean it sits against the wall of a hatch or fills the dead corner of a pack rather than rolling around in it.

Why a Wide Mouth Rectangular Bottle

A wide mouth matters more on a storage bottle than a drinking one. You can get a finger, a funnel or a brush into it, which is the difference between reusing it and throwing it away when it gets sticky.

Polypropylene screw cap.

HDPE

Translucent, so you can see the level without opening it. BPA-free. HDPE is the workhorse plastic — it shrugs off most of what you would put in it and does not go brittle.

Leak Resistant, Not a Dry Container

A screw top on a gasket-less thread is leak-resistant by design. No seal rating is published for it, so treat it as a liquid container, not as somewhere to keep electronics.

Who Makes It

Nalgene, made by Nalge Nunc in Rochester, New York — owned by Thermo Fisher Scientific since the Fisher acquisition. Our record had this filed under the distributor rather than Nalgene.

Price Note

We want to check this one with you. Our ticket is $15.99, and this bottle family starts far lower on our distributor's own price sheet depending on size. Confirm the size and price at the counter before you buy — we would rather sort it out than sell you a four-ounce bottle at a one-litre price.
