This standard J-style cradle delivers superior carrying performance and protection with its 4-touchpoint adjustable padding and rust resistant steel design.
The Thule Hull-a-Port is the classic J-cradle: the kayak rides on its edge rather than flat, which takes up about half the roof width. That is what lets you put two boats on one car, or a boat and a cargo box.
Loading Is the Easy Part
The J-profile is deliberately wide at the mouth, so you can drop a bow in and swing the stern across rather than placing the whole boat at once. Four adjustable padded touch points take the hull.

A J-cradle puts a boat high and catches crosswind. If you would rather the kayak lay flat, look at the DockGlide or DockGrip saddles. We keep all three at our Clearwater shop.
