Waterproof Tarpaullin Dry Bag W
A hip pack, not a dry bag. The waterproof waist pouch wears on your waist and keeps the small things you want on you rather than in the boat.
What the Waterproof Waist Pouch Actually Is
Our shelf label calls it a dry bag, which undersells and slightly misdescribes it. It is a waist pouch: a roll-top main compartment with buckles, two front zip pockets and an internal mesh pocket, on a belt.
Dimensions are 6.7"H x 10.2"W x 2.8"D. Geckobrands publish no litre figure for it, so we are not going to invent one.
The Waterproof Waist Pouch Rating
This is the one item in the Geckobrands range with a published rating: IPX4.
IPX4 means splashing water from any direction. It does not mean immersion, and it does not mean submersion. The two front zip pockets alone tell you that — a zip is not a seal.
So: rain, spray, a wave over the deck, sweat. Yes. Dropped in the water, no. If that is what you need, buy a roll-top dry bag and put this inside it, or use a rated case.
Why Wear a Waterproof Waist Pouch
Because the things you need most often — phone, keys, snack, sunscreen — are the things most annoying to dig out of a hatch. On a paddleboard in particular, where there is no cockpit and no hatch at all, a waist pouch is the only genuinely accessible storage.
It also comes off with you. If you get separated from the board, your phone and keys are still on your hip.
Material
250D PVC tarpaulin shell over a 210D coated polyester interior. Tarpaulin is the right fabric here — it wipes clean, it does not absorb, and it takes abrasion from a belt and a life jacket.
