Flush Mount Rod Holder
A rod tube that sits down in the deck rather than standing on it. A flush mount rod holder is the tidiest way to carry rods on a kayak: nothing to snag a line, nothing to catch a paddle, nothing standing up in the wind.
Why This Flush Mount Rod Holder Has a Closed End
This is the detail that matters, and Sea-Lect say it themselves: *closed end is great for use in kayaks.*
An open flush mount is a tube with a hole at the bottom. Every wave that washes the deck, every bit of rain, runs straight down it and into your hull.
A closed end is sealed. Water that gets in stays in the tube where you can tip it out, rather than sitting in the boat adding weight.
These are two separate parts in Sea-Lect's catalogue with different fastener specs — it is not a trim option.
Flush Mount Rod Holder Specification
• Injection-moulded ABS, black
• 30 degree rake
• Approximately 9-3/16" long overall
• Takes #12 oval-head fasteners — not included
Nothing else is in the box either: no cap, no gasket, no screws. If you want those, we stock the full kit version, which adds a cap and gasket, a rod leash fitting and two alternative sets of hardware.
Cutting the Hole
We are not going to publish a cut-out dimension, because Sea-Lect do not publish one and a wrong number here means a ruined deck.
Bring the boat and the holder to the shop and we will mark it together. Think about rake and reach before you cut: a 30 degree tube angled back over the stern keeps rod butts out of your paddle stroke, and you want the rod reachable from the seat.
