A Bixpy adapter is the bracket that connects a Bixpy motor to your particular boat. Bixpy makes a different adapter for almost every mounting situation, which is how one motor ends up fitting so many hulls.
A Bixpy Adapter Does Not Include the Motor
Say it twice, because it is the single most common misunderstanding: an adapter is mounting hardware only. There is no motor in the box.
If you do not already own a Bixpy motor, an adapter on its own will do nothing. Come and talk to us about the whole package instead.
The Four Bixpy Adapters We Stock
These are not colours or sizes. Each one fits a genuinely different boat or drive system, so choose by what you own — not by price.
Old Town PDL Drive Adapter
A drop-in block that replaces the PDL pedal drive in the well. Tool-free, no drilling — you lift the pedal drive out and drop this in. It has a built-in front bumper, weighs about 4.3 lb, and draws about 13" with an 18" base.
Bixpy is specific about fitment and so are we: it fits the Old Town Sportsman PDL and Topwater PDL, in 106 and 120 only, and Bixpy states it does not fit any other kayaks.
Native Pedal Drive Adapter
The same idea for Native Watercraft boats — it occupies the Propel drive well so the motor sits where the pedal drive normally does, low and central, driving through the hull rather than hanging off the stern.
That central position is why drive-well adapters handle better than a transom mount: the thrust is under the boat instead of behind it, so the hull tracks rather than being pushed around at one end.
Power Pole Adapter
For boats already fitted with a Power Pole mount. Rather than adding new hardware to the hull, this uses the mounting point that is already engineered into the boat for a shallow-water anchor.
Worth knowing if you have a Power Pole bracket doing nothing for most of the year.
Universal Versa Rudder Adapter
The rudder-mounted option, and the one to consider when your boat has no drive well and no Power Pole. It mounts at the stern in place of, or in conjunction with, the rudder.
Because it is the universal option rather than a boat-specific one, fitment depends on your particular stern and rudder arrangement. Bring the boat — this is not one to order sight-unseen.
Which Motor Each One Takes
Bixpy's own material is not entirely consistent about which motors each adapter accepts. Some sources list the K-1 only; others include the J-1 and J-2.
Rather than print something we cannot stand behind, we would rather check the current position with Bixpy for your specific combination. Tell us which motor you have and we will confirm before you spend anything.
