Convertible knobs 6 pack

Six knobs, and each one can be either gender. Convertible knobs arrive as 1/4-20 female — they thread onto a bolt. Drop a socket head cap screw through the middle and the same knob becomes male, threading into a tapped hole.

Why That Matters

Track hardware is a mixture. Some accessories present a bolt and want a knob to tighten onto it. Others present a threaded hole and want a knob with a stud. If you carry only one kind you will inevitably have the wrong one.

Convertible knobs remove that problem. Six knobs and a handful of cap screws cover both cases, so a spares box actually covers what you meet on the water.

Hand-Tight, Every Time

The point of a knob rather than a bolt head is that you can adjust an accessory with your fingers in a moving boat — no tools, no dropped Allen key rolling under the seat, nothing needed but a hand.

Do not over-tighten them. They are designed to be hand-tight, and cranking a plastic knob down hard on a track will eventually strip the knob or deform the track lip. Snug is enough; if something is still moving, the problem is usually a T-bolt that has rotated out of the undercut rather than insufficient torque.

What Convertible Knobs Fit

Anything on the 1/4-20 standard — GearTrac, MightyMount, and most Scotty, RAM and YakGear track hardware. Sea-Lect's track uses 8-32 and is a different part.

Track, MightyMount and LockNLoad

Three names get confused constantly, so here is the whole picture in one place.

GearTrac is a channel with an undercut lip, screwed to the deck. Accessories capture under that lip with a T-bolt and slide anywhere along it.

MightyMount is a short fixed pad you screw straight to the deck where there is no track. It is a *substitute* for track, not something you add to it.

LockNLoad is the tool-free quick-release interface on the accessory end — rod holders, fish finder mounts, camera arms. A LockNLoad accessory ships on either a track base or a surface base.
