Why a Track Ball Camera Mount Suits a Kayak
Suction cups do not hold on textured decks. Clamps need something to clamp. Adhesive mounts are permanent and unfriendly to a boat you might sell.
Track is the answer, and most fishing kayaks already have it. The T-bolt drops into the channel, pins in place, and the whole assembly slides to wherever the shot is — forward for a bow view, beside the seat for a face-on angle, back over the shoulder for the classic hookset shot.
What Track a Track Ball Camera Mount Fits
RAM states the Track Ball universally fits a range of common and proprietary track systems including YakAttack GearTrac, Scotty Slide Track and Harmony SlideTrax. The T-bolt measures .248" x .93".
One real caveat: RAM does not recommend it for top-loading gear track. If your boat has top-load trac rather than side or end-load, tell us and we will check before you buy.
Keeping the Footage Watchable
The mount is rigid; the mistake is usually the arm length. Every inch between the track and the camera multiplies vibration, and a long arm on a hull slapping through chop produces unwatchable video.
Keep the arm short and every joint properly tight. If you need the camera further away, move the base rather than extending the arm.
RAM Ball Sizes, Because Mixing Them Is the Usual Mistake
RAM sizes its balls by letter and the components only connect within a size. B is 1", the everyday size for phones, cameras and small fish finders. C is 1.5", for heavier or longer arms. A is 5/8" and D is 2.25".
A B-size ball will rattle loose in a C socket, and a C ball will not enter a B socket at all. Before you buy an arm or a base, check what size the other end of your setup is — or bring it in and we will match it in ten seconds.
