Deck Plate POP OUT
A pop out deck plate opens with a lever rather than a twist. Flip the integrated lever up, the lid releases, and it is off. No threads, no lining up lugs, and it works with one cold hand.
Why People Choose a Pop Out Deck Plate
Speed and simplicity. If the port is something you open every trip — a day hatch, an access port you check bilge through, a spot you stow a pump — the lever is genuinely nicer than threading a lid on and off. The lid seals against a rubber O-ring rather than a thread face.
The honest trade-off: there is a moving lever, and a moving part on a boat is a part that can break. The threaded and quarter-turn plates have nothing to break. For a port you open twice a year, they are the more durable choice.
No Collar, So No Bag
This pop out deck plate has no internal collar, which means it cannot take a deck plate bag. None of the pop-out family can. If you want a hanging dry storage pocket under the opening, you want the quarter-turn plate with the internal collar instead — we stock that alongside this one.
Pop Out Deck Plate Dimensions and the Hole
• Opening: 6-1/2"
• Outside diameter: 8-1/8"
• Deck cut-out: 6-1/2"
• Depth: 7-3/8"
• UV-resistant ABS, textured finish
• Integrated pop-up lever, rubber O-ring seal
• #8 flat-head fasteners, sold separately
Check for 7-3/8" of clear space under the deck before you cut. Bulkheads, seat hangers and footbrace rails have a way of being exactly where you wanted the hatch.
Fitting
Cut slowly with a fine jigsaw blade, dry-fit, drill the screw holes, bed the flange in marine sealant, and use bonded sealing washers under the screw heads.
