Weeki Wachee Paddle Trip January 2024
The Weeki Wachee River Paddle Trip January 2024 was a nice start to the 2024 paddling Calendar it was a cool start but not a cold day. There was plenty of water at the kayak launch which from previous years isn’t always the case. The launch was slippery, but we managed getting everyone in and out of the kayaks. The weather kept most of the boaters and other kayakers off the water so we had the river mostly to our selves. We saw dolphins on the way up through the grass marshes. Manatees were scattered along the river not all congregated at Hospital hole. We had lunch at Rogers Park. And paddled up to Hospital after lunch. There several more manatees at hole Three of them slept on the bottom barely moving. Most of the group paddled a little farther than up river from Hospital Hole, and seen more manatees. There was some wind on the way back but not too difficult paddling against. Thanks everyone for coming out and paddling with us. See you next month. On the Chassahowitzka.
