Clam Bayou Paddle Trip May 2022
Mark Clam Bayou 2022 as another great trip and beautiful day on the water. The weather was great, not too hot. We had some wind making everyone earn their lunch, but made an easy run back to the put in. Clam Bayou is a small Estuary area in south Pinellas that enters the Boca Ciega Bay next to Gulfport. With kayak trails through the area however there they are not that easy to follow. Fortunately, its not a big area and it just nice to explore. The mangrove tunnels and canals were lush and full of life with many birds spotted including Great Blue heron, osprey, Night heron. We paddled across the flats in Boca Ciega Bay to downtown Gulfport for lunch and had some waves and winds to play in. Picnicking off the beach in Gulfport we could listen to the music for the bars and relax before we road the wind back to finish the day. Thanks for everyone who came out and enjoyed the day with us.
