Versa SUP / Kayak

The Liquidlogic Versa is a hardshell stand-up paddleboard that is also a sit-on-top kayak. Take the seat out and stand on it; drop the seat in and paddle it sitting down. At 34.5 inches wide and rated to 425 pounds it will take you, a child, a dog and a cooler, which is usually how it ends up being used.

The Wheel Is Not a Gimmick

It weighs 73 pounds, which is a lot for a board — so Liquidlogic built a Tag-A-Long wheel into the stern. You tip it up and roll it to the water rather than carrying it. Without that this would be a boat that lived in the garage.

Built to Be Dragged

A hidden keel keeps it tracking and stiffens the hull, a double-tunnel underside gives it the stability, and there are replaceable skid plates on the stern for exactly the treatment a board like this gets. The drop-down skeg is spring loaded and worked by a lever.

Rotomolded, and What That Buys You

This is a rotomolded polyethylene boat: plastic powder melted and spun inside a heated mould. It is heavier than the thermoformed Eddyline and Hurricane boats we also sell, and not as stiff — but it takes abuse that would crack them. Drag it up a concrete ramp, bump it off an oyster bar, drop it off the roof rack, and it dents rather than breaks. In Florida sun it wants a cover or some shade, because polyethylene is what UV goes after first.
