Honeymoon Island is a barrier-island state park at the mouth of St. Joseph Sound, and we paddle its sheltered eastern side over clear seagrass flats. Shorebirds are everywhere, and the beaches are among the best in Florida.
There's more open water here than on our river trips, so a little wind experience helps — but the route stays protected and the payoff is a genuine Gulf-island paddle.
